Description
Want to dive deeper into the book of Genesis? You can do just that by purchasing this combo pack of the Genesis: Book of Origins—Part I CD and Study Workbook—and receive a 15% discount in the bargain.
Genesis: Book of Origins—Part I covers Chapters 1–25 of the 50 chapters of this first book of the Bible.
The CD and accompanying Study Workbook provides the background and overview of the first book of the Torah and is at the same time the springboard that launches the entire Hebrew Scriptures.
The structure for the book of Genesis divides into two parts. First are the pre-history and creation stories (Chapters 1–11). Next is the creation of Israel with the Abraham family cycle of stories (Genesis 12-50). In addition to reciting the origin of the earth, humanity and animals, Genesis tells the origin of human language and of human vocation, of brotherly dissension, of the family unit, of disobedience, and of sin. It also records varying views of God—and much more.
This CD (like the equivalent MP3 that is a separate product) covers the first 25 chapters of Genesis, ending at the death of Abraham, just as his son Isaac, comes into view. Among the topics addressed are background issues such as authorship, time of writing, audience, themes, structure, and the theological focus so relevant to today.
All aspects of this talk are intended to offer a fresh approach to stories that are probably very familiar to you. You will learn distinctions in how the different authors understood God. And you will see how these ancient stories are applicable to us today.
The companion workbook includes a page for each chapter of Genesis, in chronological order, with four to five questions posed on each page. The questions are designed to help you dive below the surface and glean new insights.
