Ways to keep your Biblical Focus from being Stolen

Here’s a new book I hope every thinking person will read. Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention—and How to Think Deeply Again, by Johann Hari. The title captures the horrid way screen time on various devices is robbing many of us of the ability to hold a thought, read a book, or stay on task.

I find that when I tell myself to put God first when I sit down to read the Bible lesson, to prepare for a Bible study, to quietly study or read the Bible and spiritual writings, I ‘m able to ignore anything that would distract.

Thank you for alerting us to the value of this book. I recently heard an excellent 2 part interview of Johann Hari on Oprah’s Super Soul podcast. I found many ways I could apply his thoughts to listening to the still small voice. I love the way you relate it to our study of the Bible. Thank you.

This made me cry, an understanding cry. After all, the heart naturally yearns for God and the world’s empty promises and lures would dampen that desire. By the way, Madelon, your hairstyle is very becoming. 💜 So grateful to be a part of this group.

Thank you so much Madelon. This vlog “hit the nail on the head” for me. Lately I’ve noticed my ability to give total attention has been dwindling. It’s quite disconcerting and I’ve been praying to get more focussed for longer periods of time (like before), but there have been periods of frustration and I almost give up. Your pointing out this and suggesting this book has given me hope and direction….again thank you so much.
