The Prayer of Perception

I love hearing people who normally never talk about God or religion suddenly say we all need to pray right now about this virus. How refreshing! How different from times when everything seems like smooth sailing, and people put awareness of God a bit on the shelf. But when there is an emergency, millions still turn to a divine source outside of themselves for comfort and guidance.

Dear Madelon,
This is a wonderful expression of God’s presence no matter what the picture looks like in the world right now. You mentioned two things that came to me: 1) mirages- how they appear real but aren’t and 2) God’s phone number in Isaiah 65:24 which gives comfort to know God will answer that call. I’m grateful for all the videos you are doing. Thank you so very much.

Thank you Madelon! Talk about human/divine coincidence—this vlog came as I was/am still standing in line at Costco, NOT to get TP, bleach, paper towels or water but hickory smoked bacon! Others within a 6’ earshot got to hear this. BTW do you know the old southern hymn Open Mine Eyes That I May See? Really fits with your message. I awakened this morning hearing an old Southern Baptist hymn called In Times Like These. What an inspiration! The lyrics are available online. I emailed Glenda to request that she play this hymn tonight and she just replied in the… Read more »

I have been working on “what we see.” This is very helpful, Madelon. I am so glad you said that the world is hearing our prayers. Thank you.

Thank you so much Madelon. What you shared in this Volg reminded me of a solo I sang years ago when I was a soloist. The title of the solo is “Right where I am” and the first verse says “Turning to God in prayer, I find good everywhere. I see God’s loving care, right where I am.” And that is what Elisha saw right where he was. He saw God’s loving care and that is what we need to see, right now, right here.

And I agree with what Lona said, hope you send this to the periodicals.

This was just what I needed to hear today. I am about to go to sleep for the night and can ponder on your story about Elisha and his servant and how we need to see what God sees today, right now.

Thank you! This one of my favorite Bible stories!
I really needed to listen to it at this time!

Be still and (know) that I am God! A lot of chatter going
on, need to be still and know God’s love touches all!

So great to see and hear you especially at this disconcerting time. I loved the idea that the army doesn’t need to be a real human army surrounding us, but a “virus” army and that through that “prayer of perception” that Elisha exemplified, we too can really “see” the truth that surrounds us. We are spiritual and not material. We can change “things into thoughts” especially when we are given the gift of “seclusion” to study and ponder God’s laws.

Thank you for this vlog.

Oh Madelon, what a treat to carve out time to sit with you and your vlog today as Gary and I pray for ourselves, our church, our nation, and our world. Prayer of Perception is a wonderful description of what Elisha was asking and will inspire our prayers. Thank you for taking the time to share your inspiriation.
