Lessons from II Chronicles: Make room for the new

Second Chronicles, chapters 14 – 16, tell accounts of King Asa of Judah.  We see the theology clearly:

“The Lord is with you, while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you (2 Chron. 15:2).

The video blog (‘vlog’) captures a few lessons from these three key chapters of Asa from the Chronicler:

  1. We can’t rely on the past for today’s needed spiritual inspiration.  We must renew our commitment to the present.
  2. In order to make room for the new, we have to let go of the old.
  3. We must stay alert to prevent any backsliding – like dear Asa.

A story illustrating these points is told about Madelon in an outdoor leadership program on a ropes course.
