I like the Latin phrase ”quid pro quo.” It sounds kind of cool, even though it’s just a fancy way of saying ”something for something” or, more colloquially, ”this for that.”
You’ve probably done a lot of quid pro quos in your life. Every contract is based on a quid pro quo, from signing up for a Pilates class (”You teach me Pilates and I pay you”) to the far more consequential marriage contract (“I take you to be my lawfully wedded husband/wife from this day forward”).
