Description
Because the book of Revelation is filled with coded language, unusual visual images, and veiled allusions to kingdoms of this world and beyond, and because its structure can be confusing, we recommend buying both this Revelation Study Guide Workbook and the accompanying CDs (found in the Revelation Study Guide Combo CD and Study Workbook package) or the accompanying MP3s (found in the Revelation Study Guide Combo MP3 and Study Workbook package). These tools, combined, provide an explanation of the structure; give political and historical context; discuss authorship theories; and refer to some of the many Biblical metaphors used in the Hebrew Scriptures.
What was so obvious to first-century audiences, who were dealing with the trauma of the Roman Empire’s aggressive and oppressive efforts to stop anything unlike itself, is not as obvious to 21st-century readers. Yet it is possible for anyone in any era to unravel the revelation of Jesus Christ as told to John of Patmos. Those of us in a faith community will recognize the many states of thought addressed by Revelation and simultaneously see how this revealing includes the answers to the toughest of church challenges.
Each chapter has between four and six thoughtful questions that reveal key themes. The questions are designed to prompt readers to think of new ways they might view such familiar material.
The workbook is designed to be used individually or by Bible study groups.
